First Night of Treatment
Plan to have a soft meal and continue this for at least the first few days. The process of moving teeth can be uncomfortable for many patients. Your orthodontist may recommend mild pain relief (Panadol/Ibuprofen) and it may be worthwhile continuing this for the first few days.

Sports
Mouthguards can be worn to offer some protection to the teeth and cheeks during the course of your treatment. It may be necessary to re adapt the mouthguard or replace the mouthguard entirely periodically.

Cleaning Teeth
It is very important to keep the teeth very clean during orthodontic treatment. We will show you how to do this effectively.

Breakages
If something has happened to your braces or aligners it’s a good idea to check with us so that we can get things back on track in a reasonable timeframe. Braces can and do come off and treatment can slow down when this happens.

Adjustment Appointments
Commonly we will need to see you every six weeks or so throughout the course of your treatment Factor this into your plans as regular appointments are a key factor in getting an efficient result for you.
